New Product: Monsterflow Air Filter

I saw this unique looking
air filter at a retail store a few weeks ago, and my first reaction to
this filter was how different it looked from all the others. When I was
told the price, I was flabbergasted. For that price I could purchase an
entire system with piping and hoses. The salesperson informed me that it
was a totally different design compared to the others, and that it was
designed to cut air turbulence down, and create faster moving air. I was
pretty skeptical, but because it looked so cool, I decided to give it a
try.
Installation was simple
enough as all I had to do was remove the aftermarket filter I had
already had on, and replace it with the new one. I would estimate a 5
minute install time. Well, for one, it sure does look a lot better than
most filters and really gives your engine bay a nice “High Tech”
look.
Now for my famous “Punch
it down the block test” my neighbors love so much... I gave it a few
revs, to see how it sounded and I would say that there was less hiss
than my last one, and a little more growl. When I took it around the
block, I immediately felt a difference. I don’t know about a whopping
10 horsepower or anything ridiculous like that, but it definitely felt
smoother and more responsive. It did seem to pull harder, and my skepticism
was gone by the time I hit 3rd gear. I have tried many filters in the
past year, and none have made an impression on me like this one.
This test was done in a
1998 Civic with a B16 JSpec engine. Other results may vary, but I am
sold. Looks good, sounds good, and performs good. Price needs to come
down a little bit, but other than that I have nothing to complain about.
