Interview with David Hsu of Skunk2 Racing
by: Harry. E R Email: harryer@purehonda.com

Skunk2 Racing has set out to prove their professionalism and aftermarket competence by the example and hard work done by their shrewd engineers. I got a chance to talk to them. Here's the conversation:

Purehonda: How did skunk2 start?
David: "Skunk2 is a product line created by Group-A Auto sports. Group-A Auto sports was established in 1994 to meet the performance needs of import enthusiasts."

Purehonda: What's the purpose of the skunk2 website?
David: "The purpose of the Skunk2 website is to increase brand, product, and team awareness. We want to use our website to allow our fans and customers to get to know us better, interact with us, and keep them up-to-date on any news."

Purehonda: What sets skunk2 apart form the others?
David: "At Skunk2, we are all import car enthusiasts. Unlike many companies who are just jumping on the "import aftermarket bandwagon" to make a quick buck, we are actually concerned about the quality and performance of the products we design and sell. We refuse to sell "performance products" that don't perform. Not only do we race because we are enthusiasts, racing also helps us develop better performance parts."

Purehonda: What are some of your plans for the near future?
David: "By the summer of 2000, we will be making announcements of several new products which will revolutionize the import performance market. We will also begin racing our newly built World Challenge road race car."

Purehonda: How do you ensure the quality of your products?
David: "To insure quality, we use state of the art manufacturing technologies
and materials. The quality of our products is further backed by our customer service program."

Purehonda: Tell us a bit about the Skunk2 Integra.
David: "The Skunk2 Integra is the ultimate showcase of our, technical abilities, enthusiasm, and commitment to the import performance industry. From the when the care emerged in 1998, it was a road race car with the capabilities of running high 12's. The car has now evolved into a drag race car capable of running mid 10's."

Purehonda: Why did you choose an Integra and not a Civic etc?
David: "The Integra has a big disadvantage of being heavy, therefore it is rare to find competitive race car that use Integra platforms. We chose to build an Integra because it was more challenging. We are currently working on a new race car using the new civic platform."
