Split Fires, to use or not to use?

Split Fires? You may want to check your specs. If you do not have what is called a "Hot-distributor" you can actually be losing power by using plugs like Split fires. Check the plug and see if there is a little pin looking igniter in the ceramic. If there is, you may be using the wrong plug, and in the end it can be causing damage to your ignition coil and igniter circuits. Happened to me.

Not a cheap fix, let me tell you. Usually the best plug for a regular car is one with a large spark area surface, not the little pin sized surface. Bosch makes a very good performance plug, and it has a large spark area, in fact the Bosch plug ran a lot better than the Split fire. A hot distributor is a distributor that not only uses the cam for power, but has a separate power source on top of it.

Using a computer to boost the power to the plugs, producing a higher level of spark not attainable with a regular distributor. I believe your vehicle has a normal distributor, but check your specs. Replacing wires can also help, perhaps Moroso 8mm wires. They get just a tad more juice to the plugs than the OEM wires. You can also check into a header and exhaust, but it will all depend on how far you are willing to go.
