Cadillac XLR picture

Cadillac XLR Prices, Reviews & Research!

For Spring, Cadillac has introduced the Cadillac XLR, a new luxury roadster, to offer high performance, exquisite styling and the latest technology all in one package. The XLR is a engineering feat that combines high levels of design sophistication with state of the art technological features. Cadillac sees no conflict with its high tech promise when it couples its high-output 4.6-liter 320 horsepower all-aluminum Northstar engine to a rear-wheel-drive configuration.

The interior of the new Cadillac XLR will be a visual feast with its highly polished aluminum and eucalyptus wood grain. As one might expect, there are some fun standard features in the XLR including:

  • Full-color video screen with built-in navigation
  • In-dash six-disc CD changer
  • A hidden, electrically-operated pad operates the door

Borrowing from its stablemate, Corvette, Cadillac XLR will sit on a newly developed C6 chassis specifically designed for convertibles. To get a clear picture of the Cadillac XLR on the road, our XLR review delves into the suspension system. To provide optimum stability on any road surface, the Cadillac XLR employs an updated version its Stabiltrak system plus electronically controlled road sensing suspension. To keep the Cadillac XLR running straight and true, XLR takes advantage of its antilock brake and traction control systems,

The ticker tells the tale in horse race jargon. The new Cadillac XLR price is comparable to the mid-priced Mercedes or higher priced Audi. At that price, expect some major pampering in the cabin. The Cadillac XLR sports a titillating balance of high-tech materials and warm wood appointments.

Pedal to the metal time. The performance characteristics of the XLR's version of the Northstar engine are enhanced by the fact that the XLR is lighter than comparable roadsters. Cadillac puts some fun back into driving by hooking all that power to a five-speed automatic with manual override to pump out between 300 and 350 horsepower.

It is hoped, with the arrival of the Cadillac XLR that the Cadillac nameplate will begin to reemerge as a technological and design leader as it once was. We plan to continue to update our Cadillac XLR review as details emerge. As new pictures come in, we hope to post Cadillac XLR photos as they arrive.
